Your Music Business Book Inspired Me

The following is a testimony from Tha Sticman, who bought my first book sold in Alabama a number of years ago.

…A couple years back Ali Shabazz [Bama Hip Hop] was having a music industry event in Anniston, AL and my crew and I came down, I bought one of your books, the Atlanta Music Industry Connection. You autographed it "To My Man CJ Tha Sticman, My First Book Sold in Alabama."

Later on I bumped into you a few more times and I got the updated version and the Los Angeles Music Industry Connection. I got that one from you last year at the Ozone Music Conference. I said next time I see you I’m going to have something to tell you bro. I didn’t get to really chop it up with you when you came to the Come Claim The Mic Music Conference in Birmingham.

…I was reading in the L.A.M.I.C. Edition of your book series about the mp3s, how artists can grow and get paper from digital sales. …Basically [I] took that and applied it to what I do as a dj and I use it to break records. This is partially what caused the revival of the paid in full mix show. As you saw on the site it was originally done on college radio and grew rapidly but was shut down due to micro-management by the university and their staff.

SESAC’s Cappriccieo M. Scates talks Money to Songwriters & Music Producers at Radio Music Conference

Performing rights organization will provide participants with real ways to make money in the music business.

March 13, 2008 (Albany, Ga) The worlds of business and the music industry have long collided, and have proven to be both a viable and lucrative mix. On Saturday, March 22, 2008 the Southwest Georgia Radio and Music Conference, which is being held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Albany, Georgia, will bring an impressive roster of business leaders, entrepreneurs, and recording industry executives together to network, educate and inspire participants. Cappreccio Scates of SESAC Atlanta is just one of the confirmed speakers, and his vast knowledge of the business of music, songwriting and publishing rights is worth its weight in platinum.

Professional people seeking tried and true information on launching and growing a successful enterprise in either the traditional landscape or via the internet will not only receive insight from these dynamic speakers, but will have the rare opportunity to meet and talk with them face to face. Additionally, workshops and hands-on training will be available for those looking to take their web presence to new heights.

SESAC, a performing rights organization (PRO), will be represented by Cappreccio Scates, Associate Director for the Atlanta branch. The organization represents songwriters and publishers and their right to be compensated for having their music performed publicly. SESAC was the very first PRO to use a highly sophisticated digital tracking device called BDS (Broadcast Data Systems) to keep track of artists’ songs. The organization collects royalties in every facet of public performance. Cappreccio Scates and the SESAC Atlanta team are an important aspect to the conference because they represent the songwriter and publisher—a vital component to the success of an entertainment professional.

“I’m thrilled to be participating in the conference and look forward to meeting all of the amazing speakers. This is the first event I’m attending where I can learn how to start my own business, make money online, and get the inside track on being successful in the entertainment business—all in one day!”, exclaims Misha Ellzy when asked about her thoughts on the conference.

The Southwest Georgia Radio and Music Conference is setting a new standard for the way entertainment industry events are conducted. With the emergence of new media, the growing free enterprise landscape, and the changing face of corporate-managed entertainment companies, this groundbreaking conference is cultivating a new crop of entrepreneurs and professionals aspiring to carve their own path in business. Finding a Music Manager

Frequently, I get recording artists looking for a music manager and I get music managers looking for artists. Outside of finding a music manager in the Atlanta Music Industry Connection Book artist may find a manager at the following events and sites:
It's strongly advised that every artist read the Manager's Chapter in either the Los Angeles Industry Connection or the Atlanta Music Industry Connection to know what to look for in a music manager.

Atlanta Music Showcase International

While readers of the Music Industry Connection Book Series and the Atlanta Music Showcase Blog are primarily read by folks in the United States (US) countries such as Belgium, United Kingdom (UK), Kuwait, Thailand, Portugal, Jamaica, Japan and Canada often check it to get full details on what's going on in the U.S.

Remember to expand your reach. As Chuck D once said "think globally and act locally." It starts with having resources, ebooks, tools and events that allow you to tap into a think tank of others. Boosting your music career goes far beyond performing live at a music showcase or talent show. You should know what to do before, during and after going to any of these events to truly maximize your experience. You should always consider how will "I" make back my investment and how long will it take. Learn to make money online.
